2003 Mitsubishi eclipse brake pad replacement
This was so helpful, but I have some notes for those going to try it: My Kia is 2013 EX The bolt on the wheel well he can't show you is 8mm not 10mm It looks like he modified his air intake, I needed to remove two bolts on mine to get the panel off (the one he already had removed) There were two nuts and a PITA bolt I had to remove that is not mentioned here, but I found in another video. It's part of a bracket holding everything together under the headlights. Otherwise I would have torn my bumper. Oh, and buy the replacement screw clips before you start! LOL there's a good video if you can't remove them (you have to pry them out) I have very little experience working on cars and this was my first time doing a project like this on my own 😁 but I did it!

@beaniegrl420 My optima was a hybrid model so that could be why some things were different
@ipp2109 oh that makes sense then! 💯
@@ipp2109 and thank you for making the video!! You saved me so much money man LOL ❤️
Thanks, got the mirror flaking issue and have to replace the assembly. I've got a 10mm and a screwdriver, looks like I'm g2g!
What led kit are you using on your kia optima I have the 2016 kia optima sx turbo with the dynamic lights that self adjust
@williamticker7724 I used XKglow led lights. With your light package, you probably have HID lights, which can't be switched to led(at least i don't think so). Mine were the basic halogen style.
How did you get rid of the map sensor j35 throttle body to create the vaccum
I can’t get to the left car headlight to change bulbs. No space for hands. So do I need to remove the whole thing? It’s a 2016 Kia optima. Great video.
I tried installing the J35 on my '08 LX coupe, but the car stalls a few seconds after starting. I also had to mount the J35 upside down because there wasn’t enough room to fit the throttle body into the OEM intake manifold. Could the upside-down installation be causing the stalling issue?
@PeterVu-nw4vm upside-down shouldn't cause an issue. It sounds like an air leak to me. Did you seal the idle air control port on the top? The j35 doesn't cover that, and it will need to be filled with RTV
@@ipp2109 I was able to orientate it the right way and yes I think there’s air leaks. I’ll try to think of ways to use a paper gasket but it’ll be tough since the manifold and TB are different shapes
Internals forged and n/a this car is great for canyon
you dont need forged internal unless you boosting it over 250 300
Those sunvisor clips are definitely a pain
Do you need he purge valve I put back my stock r18 tb and have the weapon r intake manifold and I have the coolant lines and connectors on but one pipe has nothing do I need to put the pcv in it
What about the connections on the j35 throttle body doesn’t fit one of them fits but the other connector doesn’t
The j35 throttle body we got only had one connector, and it plugged right in, no issues.
@@ipp2109 do you have instagram?
Hi there Brother. Say iF you install a j35 on at stock plastic intake manifold . Is it direct plug in. ? Tnx
I think you would have to do similar modifications. Widen the mount holes and put nuts on the back
@@ipp2109 but do you think instead a j35 , SI TB no Need for an adaptor outlet would b almost the same . . Tnx
You know what I think I’m good with my stock headlights 😂
Torque for the adjustment nut?
Honestly, I don't remember if there was a torque. I belive it was just snug, not tight
It’s 10ft lbs
At first I was jealous you had a second dome light but then I saw you didn't have a sunroof
You should have found a way to use the air router that runs from the front of the car to the old intake but nice work brother everything that we do to these we gotta come up with ourselves so we'll done
It sounded better before I think
car designers prob have never spent any time actually working on a vehicle
Having trouble taking off the headlight cover from the driver's side without having to remove the whole bumper n what not. Any tips?
How did you physically get the liner out of the car !?
Gotta bend/fold it and pull it out the front passenger door
@@ipp2109 wonder if it’s that easy if you have a sunroof!
@@TylorPorath should be mostly similar, just some clips around the sunroof. Getting it out might be a little more difficult as I'd imagine there's a metal or plastic rim around the cutout to hold shape
friendly advice instead of going to all this trouble money and headache to gain a little bit of HP just do a motor swap to k20 or k24 and go from there
At the time, a motor swap would've been more than we were comfortable doing. But yeah, either that or just buying an si would've been better for building.
Every single video on this car is the passenger side replacement, I'm assuming the driver side is the same concept?
Yup, the exact same, just flipped
Thanks, you made my Saturday a lot easier 👍🏻
Hey brother PLEASE READ THIS!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what you've done since this video I just came across it I've been building Hondas for the last two decades have a built 95 Civic coupe with an all motor d-series pushing 200 hp at the wheels...... I've built plenty of k-series b series h-series and j series also have a fully built all motor full bolt on V6 6 speed manual Accord coupe with the hfp Honda factory performance package making 320 HP at the wheels BUT LET ME SAY THIS........ My mom has a 2012 Honda Civic EX-L sedan r18 and I did a custom short ram intake that's a k&n intake with the heat shield but I took off the stock air duct that goes down under the battery and comes up behind the headlight and made a custom air duct that goes down to the front bumper where the fog light would sit that alone dropped her intake air temperatures down from 140° down to 70 or 80 degrees on a hot day and you can actually hear and feel her VTEC crossover now!!!! Then we did the OBX header with the flex pipe and then we did the Megan racing down pipe and a yanaka Cat-Back exhaust Car made 136 then we did HONDATA....... BUT YOU HAVE TO GET IT TUNED TO YOUR CAR SPECIFIC MODS OR YOU WILL NOT PERIOD!!!!!! The base maps don't do s*** once we got that thing tuned we were making quite a bit more power and we also added the weapon r intake manifold and were able to put down a healthy 150 at the wheels which is damn good out of an r18 just like when people doubted that I could build a fast all motor d-series Civic I did and I was beating friends with b series and bolt on k series all day long and surprising people left and right 😂😂😂 The point is do what you want build what you want f*** the haters!!!! And have fun with it My mom is plenty happy with it and she could have bought the SI but she really liked that the EXL came with heated seats and leather seats and besides it's literally identical to an SI sedan because we put in the SI grill SI spoiler si wheels SI bumpers and the JDM blue Honda badges on the front back steering wheel blue seats blue floor mats blue gauges blue lignuts!! And she used to have a 99 Civic SI back when it was brand spanking new that she used to take me to the street races in before I got my license back in 06 that was a full bolt on b16 build then she had two different Subaru wrx's before she went back to Honda and bought this 2012 Civic brand new but I will say the number one mod that I think seriously made a difference was we did not want to run a cold air intake because how much it rains here during the winter in Seattle so we wanted to get a short ram intake but we didn't want to run a short ram intake and get lots of heat so I can lose power so by building that heat shield wrapping the intake tube and that gold reflective heat tape and then building that custom air duct they went from the heat shield down to the front bumper seriously dropped her intake air temperatures and help that car breathe so much that model and I think did more than everything besides the tune and Hondata itself!!
If you go to the channel I have made lots more videos on this car, and then an explanation of what happened. We did every, all motor mod, and actual tune, but still made less than factory power. I do believe the issue was the tuner we went with. But we have since moved on to a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
@@ipp2109I guarantee it was the tuner bro because I live here in Seattle and we have speed factory who holds the world record for fastest front-wheel drive Honda in the world what year ralliart have you moved on to????? Because I've built nothing but 30 Hondas and Acura is over the years and I needed to pick up a new daily driver after my 04 Honda Accord V6 coupe got t-boned back in May so I decided to pick up something that I've always wanted to try building and I picked up a 2004 Mitsubishi lancer ralliart 5 speed with the 4G69 and so far I have done cold air intake 4-1 header that eliminates the cat and then a custom 2.5 inch Cat-Back exhaust and a ported and polished intake manifold and a bigger 3.8 l eclipse throttle body I am planning to get it tuned but it is very hard to find somebody to tune this gen of ralliart closest person I can find is in California who can do a remote tune
@seattlejdmcivic Upgraded to a 2010 Ralliart. It's got the 4B11T(from evo) just smaller turbo and detuned, and the SST twin clutch transmission with AWD. All we've done so far is, intake, exhaust Evo X turbo swap, and tune. Haven't been to the dyno yet, should be around 300whp. But it definitely moves, and the twin clutch is pretty fun to drive honestly, even though it's auto
I hear ya an all motor for the r18 is damn impossible. I just bought a cheap ebay turbo and didnt wven think about rods or cams. If it blows it blows you can pick em up for cheap but at least the car is somewhat driveable
Will this throw a Check engine light code?
Nope, since it has the adapter for the maf, it will be fine.
nice
Hi
What size the wire gauge?
I chose 4 guage for power and ground
@@ipp2109 i rewatched the video you clearly mentioned it lol thank you!
Gonna dive into this tomorrow on my daughter's car. This seemed to be one of the better vids I found.
Hello, how long does the cables gotta be?
My power wire was 16ft. Though a bit longer would be nice since that was JUST enough. Ground wire was 2ft.
@@ipp2109 thank you
@@ipp2109 where can i find these type of cables?
@oartworks I just went to my local audio store, and they had large rolls of different guage wire. The terminal ends I got from autozone
@@ipp2109 exactly what i was thinking audio store should have it, any specific specs i need to know when i go get me some?
Where did you buy the j35 throttle body, they all say it fits the si I see nothing for the r18 Also will it need tuned if installed?
I believe I got mine used from an Acura TL. Any honda with the j35 should work. It doesn't need a tune, but it will need a throttle relearn, which can be done at a Honda dealer
@@ipp2109 what all does switching them do?
@khadenherrick7018 just increases the amount of air that can flow into the engine. Doesn't really so anything on its own, it's more of a supporting mod for cams or turbo/supercharger
@ipp2109 I see I see, good to know thanks. I'm assuming install should be terribly hard correct?
@khadenherrick7018 Its not too bad, I actually have a video on the channel explaining how I did it
Can you do an update on the motor kinda curious to see how things went
How much was all this to do?
At the point when this video was made, intake, exhaust and hondata. Probably $1,100.
Great job, like the video. At 3:15 you mentioned about the three brackets the head light to remove by pushing from the inside the bumper and not to pull, I found that you can disconnect the bracket that hold the three tabs by removing the two no. 10 nuts and removing the one no. 10 bolt. And it will pull away without worrying of breaking the tabs.
The stock horsepower for the Honda r18 is 150
They are rated at 140hp to the crank. Due drive train loss, they only put down about 120hp to the wheels
Any footage of the car running with the new cam?
Unfortunately, I don't have any videos of it running. We got it tuned by a local guy, took it to the dyno, and made 0hp over stock. I believe the issue was with the tuner not being too familiar with Honda, but it was kinda the last straw and we ended up just selling it
@@ipp2109 damn i get that feeling
yoo show results of the lining u did!!

I need Mitsubishi lancer headliner with sunroof do you have
Model 2008
I do not have one for a sunroof model, nor do I know what would be different
ty ty my 2003 galant has same set up since the eclipse and galant are very alike in the engine bay so this helps alot.
Lmao ofc your not gna make more hp with tune if you haven’t prep it for what it needs😂 hoping you change your filter, injectors, headers/Cat at least.
Plenty of people have made power with just an intake, exhaust, and tune. If you watch my later videos I did almost every bolt on mod for the R18 and did dyno runs
So you just ran that negative to the bolt right under the battery? Also love the cherry blossom decal.
Yup, I used a wire wheel around the hole to ensure it had a good connection. So far it's been working, no problem.
Great video, but my question is how did you run that big wire , or which way did you? Under the car or through the firewall?? Do you have video or pictures,, im installing a audio system in mine is reason im asking
Nice video bro! Definitely will be watching this when I do mine!
Do you have any suggestions on where to buy a new headlight assembly from?
I would call kia and get the part number than Google it. A lot of times, other dealers or part wearhouses will be selling OEM for much cheaper
eBay
You need a tune. Not everything is plug and play.
We got a tune later once we got everything we wanted installed
Is this r18 camshaft same for r18a2 engine in evrope version honda civic ufo,1.8 140hp?
Yes, it will fit in the r18a2 engine as well.
Thanks dude 👍
i can't believe you get no more gains... i drive a FN1 with injen 1569, srs 200cell, srs g600 catback, custom camshaft, 100 oktan and mapped by team vtec germany: result: 178 hp
I agree, it definitely should have made more power, at least over stock. I believe the main issue was the tuner, If we had taken it to someone who specializes in honda, I'm sure it would've made more power
